Why This Correction Was Issued
Medline Industries, LP has identified two primary safety concerns through post-market surveillance:
Electrical Safety: Potential fire risks involving the hand control pendant and wiring if the bed is overloaded or obstructed.
Entrapment Risk: A critical risk of injury when using non-Medline side rails or accessories.
A Vital Reminder: Use Only Medline Accessories
It is essential to understand that these beds are rigorously tested for safety only when used with genuine Medline parts. Medline has received 18 complaints related to the misuse of non-Medline side rails or bed assist bars. While the occurrence rate is low (0.0025%), the risk of entrapment can lead to serious injury or death.
