Understanding Medical Necessity and Insurance Coverage

To secure insurance coverage for Complex Rehab Technology, your provider must determine that your child has a "medical necessity" for the equipment.

This means that the All-Terrain Wheelchair must be essential for preventing, diagnosing, or treating an illness, injury, condition, disease, or its symptoms.

Generally, coverage is only offered if your child has a significant impairment that limits their ability to perform daily activities.

A note for families: Medicaid often covers parts, service, and other mobility products to ensure your child has greater access to their community.
