Binson’s Hospital Supplies, Inc., d/b/a Binson’s Home Health Care Centers (Binson’s), has contracted with The Accountable Care Organization, Ltd. (TACO) to become an Alliance partner under the Medicare Shared Savings Program to provide home medical and respiratory care equipment and medical supplies along with orthotic, prosthetic and home infusion services to Medicare beneficiaries attributed to TACO.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) established the Shared Savings Program to facilitate coordination and cooperation among providers to improve the quality of care for Medicare fee-for-service beneficiaries and reduce unnecessary costs. Eligible providers, hospitals and suppliers may participate in the Shared Savings Program by creating or participating in an Accountable Care Organization “ACO”.

Company President James Binson, said during the announcement, “The Binson’s organization is very pleased to have this opportunity to coordinate services with The Accountable Care Organization, Ltd. and its network of highly respected physicians and other health care professionals”. Binson’s Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Ken Fasse, added, “Our role as an Alliance partner is important to ensure Medicare beneficiaries attributed to the ACO receive timely, high quality and appropriate products and services best meeting each patient’s medical need as directed and prescribed by their doctor”.

TACO is an Accountable Care Organization (ACO) formed earlier this year by physicians who are affiliated with Michigan Health Care Professionals (MHP). Michigan Health Care Professionals is a professional corporation comprised of over 350 leading physicians in southeast Michigan.

Medicare’s Shared Savings Program is designed to improve beneficiary outcomes and increase value of care by promoting accountability for the care of Medicare FFS beneficiaries, requiring coordinated care for all services provided under Medicare FFS and encouraging investment in infrastructure and redesigned care processes. The Shared Savings Program rewards ACO’s that lower their growth in health care costs while meeting performance standards on quality of care and putting patients first. Participation in an ACO is purely voluntary and beneficiaries may choose the provider of their choice who accepts Medicare
